The café honours our grandfather, our baoji. Shri Totaram Murada was a Gandhian, tall in stature- inside and out, an honest man of great moral courage and commitment.
His presence, through his name, is a reminder to live his qualities in word and deed.
Yes- it is a café with signature dishes and a peaceful vibe, great for good food and conversations.
No- it is not only a café, but also a small production unit that brings you handmade, carefully created sweets and savouries from all over the world.
A small production unit, keeping alive the tradition of ‘hand made sweets and savouries’ for all celebrations, big or small.
In this avatar, it curates and packs, beautifully so, traditional and contemporary sweets and savouries from within and outside India.
We believe there’s room for everyone.
A common question that comes forth is why Café Totoram? When we were raking our brains on opening a new restaurant. We were a little apprehensive. But then we thought, why not? What followed next was a thought Why not food? That though sounded like a question. We went a step further and gave an answer. Café Totoram!
In the initial four months, we did only dinner sales. We were still finding our feet and finding ways of providing a better experience for the customers. With time, the restaurant gained popularity. It also gave us a stimulus and increased confidence levels to go all out. The restaurant now boasts of an extensive lunch and dinner menu, with 70 covers which is fully optimized on weekends, on an average 350 people are served during the weekends and 250 during the week. In the last five years, we have seen ups and downs. We also made some food friends along the road. Thanks to our patrons, our friends, our guests that the restaurant is thriving and has earned a reputation among the people in Coimbatore.
